Members of the MSG Observer Group

The Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) Observer Group led by the Former Prime Minister of Solomon Islands, Sir Francis Billy Hilly is in Papua New Guinea to Observe 2017 National Elections.
The Chair, Sir Francis expressed his gratitude to the Government of Papua New Guinea for extending an invitation to the MSG to observe the 2017 National Election. Similar to other international observer groups, the MSG is in the country to observe the election processes and to provide recommendations for the government’s consideration and for future conduct of elections.
The MSG Observer Group has two teams. One team headed by Sir Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, the Former President of Fiji and consist of Mr Aisea Waniqolo of Fiji Electoral office and Mr Epineri Seibouma and Ms Mothy Sisi of the Secretariat is observing polling in the National Capital District (NCD) and East Central Province.
Another team led by the Chair Sir Francis Billy Hilly and supported by Mr Ilan Kiloe and Mr Stanley Wapot of the Secretariat was deployed to observe polling in Autonomous Region of Bougainville (AROB) and East New Britain province. The polling began on 24 June 2017.
On behalf of the MSG Secretariat, the Director General Ambassador Amena Yauvoli has reaffirmed the Secretariat’s full commitment to assist members with the smooth conduct of elections through the observer program under the Governance and Political Affairs Division.
